Biography

Dr Nigel Barr is a Registered Paramedic and Registered Nurse with qualifications in critical care in both disciplines. He has worked in healthcare since 1988 and is currently an Associate Professor and Discipline Lead for Paramedicine at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), where he also completed his PhD. Dr Barr has held leadership roles across paramedicine and urgent care, contributing extensively to curriculum development and program coordination. His research interests include paramedicine, health service delivery, interprofessional education, and infection control, with publications in high-impact journals. He is actively involved in professional governance as a Program Accreditation Assessor for Ahpra and a member of committees for the Australasian College of Paramedicine and the Australasian Council of Paramedicine Deans. Dr Barr’s ongoing contributions to education and practice have positioned him as a respected leader in the field of paramedicine.
