About
Dr Mohsen Loghmani is an academic in event and sport management with expertise in event volunteering, job design, and sport development systems. He completed his PhD at Griffith Business School, Griffith University in 2025, and is currently an Academic Fellow at the University of the Sunshine Coast. His research focuses on sport development through job crafting (and co-crafting), event volunteer management, and the design of meaningful and sustainable roles within the tourism industry and non-profit and community sport organisations.
Dr Loghmani’s work bridges theory and practice, with a strong emphasis on action research and industry engagement. He has conducted applied research with major events and non-profit organisations in Australia and internationally, examining how customised work design can enhance volunteer engagement, wellbeing, and organisational innovation. His research has been endorsed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and recognised through competitive grants and academic awards, including winning the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition at the 2024 Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ) Conference.
In addition to his academic work, Dr Loghmani has extensive practical experience in the sport sector. He has contributed to community sport as a Football Queensland Match Commissioner since 2026, a Senior Football Referee since 2019, officiating over 1,000 matches and receiving the Referee of the Year Award in 2021 (in the South Coast Region, Football Queensland). He has also supported major international sports events, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, and major national events, including the 2025 UniSport Nationals. These experiences strongly inform his teaching philosophy, which emphasises applied learning, industry relevance, and critical reflection.
Dr Loghmani teaches across sport management subjects, with a focus on event management and consumer experiences, managing international sport development, sport performance, sport digitisation and communication, and athlete and high-performance sport management. His teaching aims to equip students with both conceptual understanding and practical skills to succeed in diverse sport and non-profit contexts.
