Matt Mason

This submission by Lynne and Matt is aimed at showcasing five (5) consecutive years of their school engagement activities that create platforms to promote reconciliation and inclusion opportunities. Lynne and Matt do this by using their Indigenous perspectives with their combined, cultural, social and academic capital to 'Close the Knowledge Gap' between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non - Indigenous Australians. Both Lynne and Matt have a strong passion to ‘Close the Gap’ and the USC ‘Closing the Gap’ event initiated by Matt and Lynne continues at USC today, which will lead to improved and sustainable positive outcomes for Indigenous people and their communities. Their work embedding Indigenous content across the entire undergraduate nursing program over the past five years means our nursing staff and graduates are equipped to work with
Indigenous peoples in a culturally safe way. The benefits, outcomes and impact generated from their work will continue for years to come.
