About

Highlighting how Micro and Small Businesses (MSBs) might benefit from Strategic Management Principles - This case study analysed 31 micro and small business owner-managers from the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay regions who participated in a micro-credential business planning course. The study found that owner-managers can improve their capabilities, namely, motivation, confidence, empowerment and emancipation. The participants reported that the learning motivated them to change the direction of their business, they reported a higher level of confidence as they increased their knowledge, and they also felt empowered with their newly acquired skill sets. Participants felt liberated and emancipated, as they were no longer constrained by inadequate knowledge of owning and managing a small business.
