About

Jordan Murray is a marine ecologist and PhD candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast investigating how climate change and environmental variability reshape coral, kelp, and soft-coral communities across Australia’s subtropical–temperate transition zone. His research integrates seascape ecology, assembly processes, and advanced ecological modelling to identify the environmental and spatial filters that structure foundation species and drive patterns of dominance, diversity, and resilience in marginal reef systems. Through multiscale field surveys and spatially explicit environmental datasets, he examines thresholds of ecological change and forecasts future community transitions under ocean warming. Jordan collaborates with government agencies and conservation partners to inform marine park management, biodiversity monitoring, and climate-adaptation strategies, with broader interests in disturbance ecology and the future trajectories of coastal reef ecosystems.
