Biography
Dr John Rosenberg is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Nursing in the School of Health. A Registered Nurse with a clinical background in community-based palliative care, John was awarded his PhD in 2007 for his research “A study of the integration of health promotion principles and practice in palliative care organisations.” He continues to contribute to this field of Public Health Palliative Care locally, nationally and internationally, and is a past President of Public Health Palliative Care International.
John has a long teaching history in palliative care, grief, aged care, nursing practice, community care, chronic disease management, ethics, evidence-based practice, and qualitative research methods in face-to-face and online forums in undergraduate and post-graduate programs. He continues to provide academic supervision of Higher Degree Research students.
Dr Rosenberg was the Foundation Director of the Calvary Centre for Palliative Care Research in Canberra in a joint appointment with the Australian Catholic University and was a Research Fellow at the NHMRC Centre of Excellence in End-of-Life Care at Queensland University of Technology. His research has included palliative and end-of-life care for older Australians, palliative care in primary care settings, death literacy, Compassionate Communities, and community practice.
John has published widely and continues to speak to a wide range of audiences. He was an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology at Western Sydney University with the Caring at the end of life research group and jointly developed the global Death Literacy Index with that group.
