Biography

Janet has been an educator and librarian for 30 years in the tertiary, corporate and public sectors in the UK, US and Australia. She is a teaching-focused enabling academic who coordinates and teaches Tertiary Preparation Pathways (TPP) courses, and English language and literacy for first-year pre-service teachers.

In addition, Janet is the coordinator of the TPP/Supporting Teenagers with Education, Mothering and Mentoring (STEMM) outreach program at Burnside High School, which supports young women to transition into Higher Education.

Janet's research interests include learning and teaching strategies that promote enabling education and alternative pathways to university, and take a holistic whole-of-university approach to tertiary access and first-year retention.
