About

Professor Hryciw obtained her PhD in Cellular Physiology from the University of South Australia (now Adelaide University) and carried out postdoctoral studies at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, The University of Sydney and The University of Queensland. Prior to her appointment at UniSC, she was Associate Professor of Biomedical Science at Griffith University. At Griffith, she was the Program Director for the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (2020-2025) and Deputy Dean Learning and Teaching (2016-2019). Professor Hryciw is the current Vice President for the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease, Australia ,New Zealand and Pacific.

Professor Hryciw relocated to the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2025, where she is the Discipline Lead for Biomedical Science. Professor Hryciw is an accomplished academic with expertise in the fields of essential fatty acids, cannabinoids, obesity, and development. She has published over 100 papers and has been invited to presented her research internationally and nationally. With a strong passion for research, she has dedicated her career to advancing knowledge in these areas. In addition, with over 20 years of teaching experience, she excels as a learning and teaching professional, consistently delivering impactful educational experiences. Professor Hryciw is currently part of the Executive Team for the Core Concepts in Physiology (Australia) group, with contributions to the project Australia wide including 42 academics. She has supervised many Research Higher degree students many of whom have gone onto successful academic careers, both nationally and internationally.
