About

Carl's research focuses on the performance of the Antarctic, twentieth and twenty-first century performance design theory, and twentieth century dramatic literature. He has collaborated as director, lighting designer, scenic designer and/or stage manager on over ninety productions during his career in higher education.

Carl is an active member of the Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies (ADSA) and currently serves on their Board of Directors as Assistant Treasurer. Previously, he was on the Governing Board of the International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians (OISTAT) in 2014 - 2018. In 2020, he earned Fellowship status in the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
