About
Dr Candice Potter is a Senior Research Fellow at the MAIC/UniSC Road Safety Research Collaboration. With 15 years of experience in government, most recently as Manager of Road Safety Research and Evaluation at the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), Candice led the development of a consistent approach to monitor and evaluate road safety outcomes in Queensland.
Candice's research interests include ageing and senior road users, road safety culture and climate, and the Safe System approach. She has led the development of innovative tools such as the Queensland Road Safety Climate Scale, evaluation frameworks for systemic policy review, and the creation of motorcycle personas to improve understanding of rider motivations and behaviours.
Candice is also a strong facilitator of collaborative relationships between government and academia, recognising the value of bringing together policy and research to drive practical, evidence-based interventions.
| Drawing on her experience, Candice offers a unique perspective on the design, feasibility, implementation, and evaluation of road safety programs. Her work supports stronger collaboration between research and practice, with a focus on real-world impact for communities, industry, and government. |
