Dr Villani is internationally recognized in the fields of nutrition to support healthy ageing and the application and interpretation of a Mediterranean-style diet across the lifespan. His primary research interests include the identification of frailty and sarcopenia in nutritionally vulnerable older adults, dietary patterns and nutritional interventions to promote musculoskeletal health and physical function with age and the application and interpretation of a Mediterranean diet across a broad range of health-related outcomes across the lifespan. He is also the president of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Sarcopenia and Frailty Research.
