About

Biography

Dr Zack Shan is a biomedical engineer specialised in neuroimaging and neuroimage analysis. His research has been focused on integrative translational neuroimaging, which included i) testing hypotheses and identifying brain changes underlying neurological and mental disorders and ii) developing predictive brain models for disease diagnosis and prediction of clinical outcomes using multivariate brain modelling and multimodal deep learning methods.

Dr Shan joined Thompson Institute in April 2019. Since 2015, Dr Shan has been developing a novel translational neuroimaging platform in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) to understand its aetiology and provide an objective diagnosis. Dr Shan also develops techniques for making sense of brain imaging data of various mental disorders, including predictive brain models leveraged on machine learning/deep learning techniques and increasing brain image data accumulation at the Thompson Institute.
