Anthony (Tony) Jamieson is a criminology educator, researcher and practitioner with extensive experience across universities and the Queensland youth justice system. Currently completing his PhD at Griffith University, his research examines “ACEs and criminogenic risk factors of youth in Queensland Youth Justice – theoretical and practice implications for violent, repeat offending”. Tony has taught and marked across Griffith University, the University of the Sunshine Coast, QUT and Macquarie University, delivering tutorials, webinars and academic support to first‑year through to postgraduate students. He has consistently received “Highly Agree” ratings from students for his effectiveness as a tutor.
Tony brings more than a decade of university teaching experience and nineteen years of senior management experience in Queensland Government, including roles such as A/Director Learning and Development, Manager Youth Detention Training, and CEO of the Queensland Youth Justice RTO. His work has spanned statewide training delivery, trauma‑informed practice, organisational capability building, and major change‑management projects. Notably, he led the development of a Root Cause Analysis Framework and strategic documents supporting trauma‑informed cultural change across Youth Justice services.
Committed to professional growth, Tony has completed extensive tertiary qualifications and professional development, including Mental Health First Aid, regression analysis, TESOL, mediation, and multiple training and assessment diplomas. He has also contributed to public scholarship through a commentary piece for Griffith Criminology Insights on trauma in youth detention centres.
Tony is passionate about high‑quality, student‑centred teaching and fostering critical engagement with criminological concepts. He currently works as a sessional academic and Support Coordinator in the disability sector.
