Dr Stefan Szocs is a tutor and researcher in applied linguistics and English education. He holds a PhD in Language Testing, with research focusing on second language acquisition, pronunciation and intelligibility, and the assessment of spoken language performance.

His research examines constructs of intelligibility in second language speech, pronunciation development, and issues related to validity and criteria in language proficiency assessment. He is also interested in explicit grammar instruction and the development of linguistic precision in adult learners.

In his teaching, Stefan works in the areas of English language and literacy, including critical literacy in secondary education contexts. His teaching engages with the analysis of language, discourse, and texts, and supports pre-service teachers in developing informed and reflective approaches to literacy pedagogy.
