Sheridan is a marine social scientist whose research primarily focuses on the intersection between people and the marine environment in the Pacific. She is particularly interested in working to improve women’s engagement within community-based marine resource management, disaster preparedness, and environmental planning processes. She has worked in Solomon Islands for nine years across a range of projects focusing on community-based fisheries management and oil spill preparedness and response. Her research interests include gender equity in fisheries and aquaculture, socio-cultural impacts of environmental disasters, and community engagement.
