Biography
Dr Sharon Louth is Program Coordinator for Bachelor of Primary Education. Sharon liaises with Gympie, Fraser Coast, Caboolture, Moreton Bay and Sippy Downs to ensure equity and quality of courses between campuses.
Dr Sharon Louth’s research focuses on embedding Indigenous perspectives, Inclusive pedagogy, encouraging physical activity and well-being, enabling cooperation and collaboration, and enhancing self-efficacy, in children and their teachers. Sharon's research interests are varied, although she is particularly passionate about increasing educational aspirations and outcomes for people from all walks of life. As such she has formulated a number of intervention programs which break down socio-demographic barriers within education, such as race and gender, with a focus on inclusion and collaboration within community. Several collaborative projects have evolved with different community groups as a result. Sharon's research has involved the creation of teaching strategies which support both teachers and learners, through face to face and online mediums, to aspire to and achieve improved educational outcomes.
Sharon has taught for over 20 years in secondary schools and colleges in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She has since been teaching Curriculum and Pedagogy in the tertiary sector for the past 15 years at Fraser Coast. She is currently teaching Diversity and Inclusion; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives; and Differentiated Practice; and also supervises several HDR students undertaking both Masters and PhD courses of study.
Sharon's research and teaching practices involve the use of inclusive, cooperative and motivational learning strategies which generate self-efficacy and empower students to become successful learners. Sharon conducts professional development workshops for teachers from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions and is committed to the ongoing development of increasing educational aspirations at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Dr Sharon Louth is a pre-service teacher educator with over 15 years’ experience in the tertiary sector. Sharon's research and teaching practices involve the use of inclusive, cooperative and motivational learning strategies which generate self-efficacy and empower students to become successful learners. Sharon has undertaken research with community Elders which are founded on advancing reconciliation within education and Australian society. In addition, she is investigating pre-service teacher efficacy in embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in learning and teaching and how our USC students will make a difference to marginalised groups in our society. To further these aims Sharon is currently focused on pedagogical strategies that are Trauma Informed and Restorative in order for teachers to develop inclusive and positive classroom environments.
