Biography
Dr Lynne Stuart is an Aboriginal Nursing Academic and Senior Lecturer in the School of Health at UniSC. Her tribal group are the Mandandanji Aboriginal Peoples who originate from Roma, in Southwest Queensland. Lynne, however, was born on Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Country here on the Sunshine Coast where she now resides and works. Lynne is a Registered Nurse with clinical expertise in the field of surgical and operating theatre nursing....and has worked in the Tertiary sector, holding a Teaching, Learning and Engagement portfolio for 20+Years.
Lynne is extremely passionate about advancing Indigenous people's excellence and innovation wherever possible and has a strong interest in all areas that are related to advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Cultural Safety and Wellbeing outcomes for her peoples.
Lynne's university role enables her to stay culturally connected with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, individuals, peoples, families and communities at the grass roots level and this enables her to continue her ‘Dreaming with Care’ cycle while giving back to her peoples.
Lynne's PhD study was entitled “Maroochy Dreaming: The Stories of Aboriginal Nursing Academics who have been employed within Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Queensland Universities between 2003 and 2013”. Lynne graduated from UniSC with her PhD in 2018.
