Dr Katrin Hohwieler is a conservation geneticist with a focus on koala conservation. She has primarily worked with non-invasive genetics and how they can be used to inform on conservation questions. Ultimately, her findings contribute to improved koala conservation measures and management. Whilst primarily working on koalas, Dr Hohwieler has also worked with Kangaroo genetics and is interested in general conservation genetics of all animals.

Dr Hohwieler has been part of the Detection Dogs for Conservation Team for the past 7 years and has gained a lot of experience in detection dog handling and team management as well.
