About

Joel Bautista is an Assistive Technology and Inclusion Adviser at the University of the Sunshine Coast, supporting equitable access to learning through accessible technologies and inclusive practices. With a background in computer science and over a decade of experience in education and information technology, his work bridges digital innovation and inclusive education.

Joel previously served as the Chief of the Knowledge and Innovation Division at the Philippine Science High School System and as a Special Science Teacher, where he developed and implemented technology-enhanced learning solutions. His research has focused on augmented reality in education, IoT-based systems, and applied technologies that enhance learning outcomes.

He is currently undertaking a Higher Degree by Research at UniSC, with interests in sustainable messaging, accessibility, universal design for learning (UDL), and the integration of assistive technologies in higher education environments. Joel is committed to advancing inclusive digital ecosystems that support diverse learners and promote student success.
