Biography

Anna Robins is a Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery in the School of Health. Anna’s clinical career has spanned over 30 years in nursing and over 12 years in midwifery, in a variety of public and private hospitals in Sydney, Northern NSW and Sunshine Coast, QLD.

She has worked in tertiary settings, in the community and in the home setting. Anna has worked in continuity-of-care midwifery models, supporting women across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She is passionate about supporting women’s choices, the provision of evidence-based care and increasing the rate of spontaneous vaginal birth. Anna is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, able to provide up to date, evidence informed breastfeeding support and education to women.

Anna commenced teaching at UniSC in 2019 and has taught in both Nursing and Midwifery courses. Anna brings a wealth of knowledge and recent practice experience to her role as Lecturer in Midwifery. Anna is passionate about creating meaningful and authentic learning experiences for students.

Anna is a current PhD Candidate at University of Queensland and her doctoral study aims to reduce weight stigma in maternity care for women in larger bodies, using narrative and co-design methods.
