About

Dr Alexandra Catling joined the Tropical Forests and People Research Centre as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2023. Her PhD research was on how water availability affects interactions within plant communities, with study sites in eucalypt forests across lutruwita/Tasmania and a wildflower biodiversity hotspot on Yamatji Country, Western Australia. Her core research interests are understanding the impacts of environmental change on plant communities and how people benefit from restoring them. Alexandra's research has involved extended time in glasshouses, field-based experiments, and more recently the Philippines where she worked in a large multidisciplinary reforestation for carbon project with local communities.
