Abstract
This paper introduces a simplified model of soft systems methodology as an alternative approach to organisational development. The model is a system of enquiry, action and learning (the SEAL model) which is developed from criticisms and declarations contained in the soft systems methodology literature. The paper proposes that the model could be useful to introduce the principles of soft systems to practitioners in order to develop and improve problematic situations that arise within organisations. A proposed research project is offered in order to evaluate the potential effectiveness of using the SEAL model.
