Beyond the project: developing transferable skills through food service placements
Vol.17 June 2024
2024
Abstract
Workshop for dietetic supervisors in Queensland.
The traditional food service placement landscape is changing to better embrace the development of transferable skills and critical capabilities amongst dietetic students. Well-designed food service placements can engage students in developing and applying a working understanding of food systems and the importance of engaging in collaborative practice and codesign with stakeholders. A well-rounded food service placement learning experience can go beyond the constraints of a defined project and include a range of additional learning opportunities to better develop skills for future professionals both within and outside the traditional food service setting. This workshop will explore opportunities within foodservice based placements for students to develop varied and transferable critical competencies for dietetic practice.
