Abstract
Youth support for security programs and defence spending requires a trust in government that can only be achieved by prioritising issues important for young Australians.
Climate security and conflict are inter-related issues that must be addressed together to ensure peace and security in our region.
Addressing climate change as a serious security issue will provide opportunities to deepen relationships with Asia-Pacific partners while contributing to youth priorities on Australian shores.
To overcome challenges posed by a Trump-led America, the links between climate security and conflict, and the Australian government’s commitment to address both issues in earnest, must be clearly communicated.
