Abstract
The Sunshine Coast Region is endowed with a wealth of natural assets that are foundational to the wellbeing of its people and which represent an irreplaceable treasure within the global commons. These assets comprise of the naturally occurring living and non-living components of the Region’s lands and waters and encompass a staggering diversity of ecosystems, landforms, and resources, including the biodiversity and geodiversity within them. Our forests, rivers, wetlands, coastlines and geological features give the Region it’s unique character and the ecological functions and processes that occur within them provide environmental goods and services of enormous social, economic and cultural value.
