My-AHA: D2.1 Report on indicators with associated risk measurements
MY-AHA Consortium
2016
Abstract
This report deals with fundamental questions of diagnosing and predicting frailty. General diagnostic approaches and future pathways of frailty detection are discussed. Concepts of clinical utility, acceptance, adherence, meaningful measures of instrument-immanent precision and diagnostic decision are mentioned. For this purpose, sources of information as (a) determinants, (b) symptoms or (c) consequences of frailty are discussed and necessary scientific and technical criteria are mentioned. An additional perspective is to differentiate application scenarios and end-user needs by evaluating non-assisted, peer-assisted and expert- assisted frailty measures. Following this idea, the aim of the current deliverable "Report on indicators with associated risk measurement" is to provide an overview of existing measures and possible new sensor data development for frailty. After discussing fundamental issues of frailty diagnosis and prediction, the report describes physical core symptoms of frailty, and secondary aspects of frailty as cognitive, emotional and social components. Measurement approaches for all of the components are discussed. Then, major determinants of frailty and age-related health impairments as nutrition, physical exercise and sleep are discussed.
