Abstract
According to the findings from the study “Cross LoC Trade – success against all odds”, a joint publication of Kashmir Institute of Economics and Mercy Corps, it is important to explore the merits of various investment opportunities and channels of access to finance for improving Intra-Kashmir trade.
Through this consultancy, Kashmir Institute of Economics and Mercy Corps would like to conduct a study to analyze investment and finance opportunities around cross LoC trade. The study will assess the role of AJ&K government, traders, trade associations, chambers of commerce and other stakeholders. It will also explore, analyze and document different opportunities of access to finance for cross LoC trade stakeholders. This should include (but not limited to this) the role of Kashmir Bank as one of the possibilities, analyze and document operational modalities of different opportunities of access to finance and the role of different stakeholders in the provision of these, provide recommendations for various stakeholders to increase access to finance for Intra-Kashmir stakeholders and explore, analyze and document any possible opportunities of investment for public, private and development sector to contribute to the economic viability of trade.
