Frame and Truss Offcut Utilisation Case Study
Forest & Wood Products Australia
2024
Abstract
This report forms part of the body of work completed as part of the Timber Circularity Project which is a three-year nationally funded initiative commenced in 2023. Led by the National Centre for Timber Durability and Design Life (NCTDDL) the project is funded by Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) and industry partners, including the Frame and Truss Manufacturing Association (FTMA).
The project is focussed on determining circular pathways for preservative treated timber and engineered wood products (EWP) and keeping timber out of landfill. The Australian government is driving the move towards a circular economy (CE) by 2030 and finding reuse and recycling solutions for end-of-life timber resources is key to meeting these goals. Understanding the resource available and logistics options provides a better understanding of solution requirements, enabling integration of the resource into a circular economy.
