Abstract
Engaged' is a celebration of USC's positive contribution to the community. Like any university, USC's primary mission relates to teaching, learning and research. Integrated with that, however, is the need to ensure that this important work remains relevant and grounded in the issues and challenges faced by the wider community. Contemporary, complex problems are invariably multi-disciplinary and cannot be solved by a single entity be it the education sector, government, community or business organisation. The initiatives presented here exemplify this. From modest to large projects, they are all based on the common premise that, by working together and by leveraging the skills and resources of the University, real and sustainable progress can be achieved.
