Embedding Gen-AI in Academic Writing Support: A Workshop Implementation
This presentation shares a practical approach to integrating ethical Gen-AI use into academic writing instruction. Drawing on the UniSC Semester 2 2025 workshop Writing in Academic English, the presentation demonstrates how Gen-AI was strategically positioned as one feedback tool among several, with step-by-step guidance for appropriate use. Recognizing that emerging technologies can support learning without compromising academic integrity (Mekheimer, 2025), this workshop model offers transferable strategies for helping students engage confidently and ethically with AI tools while maintaining student agency in the writing process.
