What kind of beetles attack recently cut timber?
2020
Abstract
Healthy living trees are fairly immune to insect attacks, but stressed trees or trees that have been cut can be attacked by a variety of insects, including beetles. In most cases, you will not see beetles in your timber that you purchase from a yard, but there are a few exceptions. Freshly cut trees can be attacked by bark beetles as well as ambrosia beetles, while powderpost beetles can attack drier timber in service. We will discuss each separately.
