Dual tangles of plants snake across the surface of a printed surface pattern design, one speckled with pherbalium and wattle, the other banksia and midyim. The plants become two paths, traveling without end. These paths chronicle my experience of walks through nature reserves named in honor of those who helped to protect them, Kathleen McArthur, and Vera Scarth-Johnson. The work contributes a method of engaging the structure of the repeat pattern to share a story, often restricted the formalities of the repeating process. The work was exhibited as a length of printed fabric and supporting sketches at the Wildflowering by Design exhibition from 2021- 2022, receiving over 5000 visitors across two regional Queensland galleries and again in the Wildflowering by Design Touring Exhibition from 2023-2025, receiving over 20,000 visitors across seven regional Queensland galleries.
