Abstract

comment
In April, 2008, the Australian Government brought the excise duty on premixed spirits in line with the excise on unmixed spirits—a 70% increase from AU$39·36/L to $66·67/L. This action has raised the question as to whether such a one-off manipulation of tax can reasonably be expected to improve public-health outcomes related to alcohol consumption.
