Abstract
Given that the Victorian era revelled in 'the trappings of death,' (Wilson 2003, p.539) and that Victorian era museums have often been considered as sterile 'Cabinets of Curiosity' providing no more than a 'storehouse for all the "wonders of creation"', (Wilson 2000, p. 209), this presentation will both contend and demonstrate that such 'storehouses' and the exhibitions they displayed may serve as a source of inspiration for the positive and lively outcomes of creative works such as the novel.
