Abstract
Forensic social work teachers, educators, and scholars are instrumental in shaping critical, compassionate, and competent practitioners. Students aspiring to work in forensic social work need the appropriate skills, knowledge, and training to handle the complexities, demands, and ethical issues seen in the criminal justice system. Educators require effective methods of teaching and assessing forensic social work practice competencies. This scoping review explores the role of simulation-based learning as a teaching pedagogy in forensic social work education. The results expose a significant gap in the published research on simulation-based learning in forensic social work education. Simulation-based learning has been used in forensic education to develop competence and skills, but there is a need to explore simulation-based learning as pedagogy for forensic social work education.
