Abstract

Materials Engineering Mechanical Engineering titanium beta pseudoelasticity Ti-Nb
Tensile properties and pseudoelastic behaviour were assessed for a Ti-25Nb-3Zr-3Mo-2Sn alloy. Significant pseudoelastic behaviour was observed in both solution treated and solution treated/aged conditions which was associated with the formation of the martensic α″ phase. The solution treated condition displays the greatest pseudoelasticity. Straining of the alloy leads to a reduction in the Young's modulus proportionate to the magnitude of the strain.
