Properties of 'enhanced' OSB subfloor panels
Forest Products Journal, Vol.58(5), pp.77-79
2008
Abstract
Oriented strandboard (OSB) manufacturers have developed "enhanced" OSB subfloor products that they claim have improved thickness swell properties. Examples of these enhanced OSB panels were found to have reduced thickness swell, compared with normal OSB. Despite the improved thickness swell resistance of the enhanced OSB, all of the panels did swell and were readily susceptible to mold, suggesting that these panels resist, but do not exclude moisture. Therefore wetting of OSB should be avoided.
