Preparation of FeSiBNbCu nanocrystalline alloy wire

Abstract
Nanocrystalline alloy wire of composition Fe73.5Si13.5B9Nb3Cu was prepared by annealing of wire samples cast directly by the rotating water bath process. The as-cast structure of the wire was sensitive to the melt temperature prior to the casting, but wire samples annealed to a nanocrystalline structure, irrespective of initial condition. The tensile strength of the wire and an estimate of the critical fracture stress intensity are reported. © 1994.
