Abstract
This study evaluated the effectiveness of a one-day educational workshop for staff working in the field of dementia care. The study employed a pretest/ posttest design to explore the relationship between attendance at the workshop and variables such as knowledge of contemporary dementia care and attitudes towards people with dementia. Data were collected using three self-report questionnaires that described the demographic profile of participants, their knowledge of dementia care and their attitude towards people with dementia. Analysis revealed that attendance at the workshop significantly improved participants' knowledge and attitudes towards people with dementia. Recommendations for further research are discussed.
