Abstract

Performing Arts and Creative Writing
In this article Toula articulates her dream of universal connection: science and story employed in tandem through the shared mythic narrative. Inspired by Martin Luther-King's famous 'I Have a Dream' speech, Toula also considers the collective voices of Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell and C. P. Snow in an endeavour to bridge the divide between science and the humanities. In the words of Martin Luther-King, Toula describes her enduring faith that by passing on our ancient knowledge through stories "we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our [world] into a beautiful symphony. . . " (King) - the symphony of the past, present and future; and of science and story.
