Special Edition 'Law, Social Change and Social Justice in the 21st Century' - law schools have performed well in assisting members of the Australian community to enjoy access to the law - may better serve their communities by entering into educational and service partnerships with legal aid organisations and the providers of pro bono legal assistance - 28 law schools in Australia serving a population of approximately 19 million - the United States has 176 law schools to serve a population of 270 million - 21 law schools in Canada serve around 30 million - in 1999, A$5000 per head spent to educate law students in Australia - US$20,000 per year per student spent on legal education in many of the larger American law schools.
