Evaluation of Physical and Environmental Characteristics of Load Transport Roads The Case of the Brazilian Center-West Corridor Road
Geografares, (13), pp.135-159
2012
Abstract
In Brazil, while more than 60% of loads are transported through highways, more than 50% of the roads are in regular or bad environmental and physical conditions, which provoke negative externalities. In this work, procedures to evaluate the physical and environmental conditions that influence road security are presented. These procedures are applied in a Brazilian grain transport road, the Center-West Corridor, allowing the visualization of the infrastructure and environmental components in worse conditions, representing risks to the operation.
