Abstract
Aceh province, in the westernmost part of Indonesia, is one of the top contributors to the country's elasmobranch fisheries. Here, we discuss some proposed interventions and their feasibility towards thresher shark fisheries in South-west Aceh. Fisheries managers must focus more on poverty alleviation and discover alternative livelihood options to reduce the dependence on threatened sharks in coastal communities.
