Abstract

Tourism Environmentally sustainable commercial services and tourism autoethnography reflexivity responsible tourism education teaching in tourism tourism education futures
Much has been written about the nomenclature of sustainable tourism education as a vehicle to prepare students for sustainability-centric careers and futures. Yet, despite the wide body of work surrounding the broad conceptualisations of sustainable tourism, the evaluation of sustainable tourism education has largely been nested in the perspectives of student feedback and outcomes. Through a critical collaborative ethnography reflection, we seek to unpack the current body of sustainable tourism education literature, the gaps that exist between theory and practice, and the best practices of how tertiary education can be redesigned toward more impactful and desired outcomes beyond institutional or governmental metrics.
