Abstract
In the version of the article initially published, in the left panels of Fig. 2 and Extended Data Fig. 1, the x-axis labels were “Maximum relative stem density sampled (no. of stems of the species/no. of stems in the plot)” but should have been “Maximum relative stem density sampled (%) (no. of stems of the species/no. of stems in the plot)”. This correction has been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
