trifluoroacetic acid

Treatment of acetals (1 and 2) and amino acetals (3-5) with either trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) or silica gel followed by tetraallyltin gave excellent yields of the corresponding homoallylic alcohols (68 - 100%).
