British Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, Vol.5(8), pp.360-366
2009
Abstract
The paper summarizes the findings of a literature review examining the nursing management of people with Huntington's disease. The importance of reviewing nursing management practice with this patient population reflects the growing interest in the speciality area of complex neurological conditions. A range of major electronic databases were used to inform this review to identify original relevant research papers and grey literature sources from 1997–2008. Very few nursing-related research papers were found that directly address the nursing management of people who suffer from Huntington's disease. The literature highlights the need for specialist knowledge and education for nurses working in this area and identified that there are future research opportunities for nurses working in this speciality area.
