Abstract
In this article we propose to understand how the implementation of Piscinão de Ramos, within the context of Complexo da Maré and Praia de Ramos itself, in Rio de Janeiro, constituted an important and complex change in the local urban environment and in the relationships that were established between from this urban landmark. From this contextualization, in a sociotechnical approach, we seek to establish the relevance of Piscinão de Ramos in reestablishing and reconfiguring urban and social dynamics in the urban macrocosm of Complexo da Maré. In the end, we show how this understanding is fundamental to understanding the impacts and implications of implementing this type of urban icon, allowing a critical and reflective analysis on the topic.
