Abstract

Being an interactive novel for young adults presented as my thesis for Masters of Creative Arts (Creative Writing) at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Synopsis: The uneventful teenage life of Kit Sparkes is turned upside down when her newly arrived Indian neighbours crash into her father's ute. The collision hurtles Kit into the mysterious and perplexing lives of Manji Maranjala and his family: a world of mathematical formulas, mythical philosophers and spiritual gurus. A reality where human destiny is ruled by an ancient, sacred force: the power of the Kaleidoscopers. The format of the Kaleidoscopers is interactive, inspired by the concept of the 'choose-your-adventure' novel. However in this instance, the interactivity is based upon the plurality of reading the novel both in print text and online (internet or CD/DVD-ROM).
