Abstract
This research addresses responsible representation of Viking culture and Norse mythology in video games, particularly focusing on the portrayal of Viking culture through 3D art. While video games frequently incorporate Norse elements, there remains a significant gap in academic research regarding how digital interactive media transforms and presents these cultural traditions.
The study specifically investigates techniques and strategies for representing Viking culture through 3D art in games, focusing on two primary research questions: (1) identifying effective techniques and strategies for 3D art representation of Viking culture, and (2) exploring ways to balance history with aesthetic appeal. Through the creation and analysis of six detailed dioramas spanning daily life, architecture, and mythology, the research examines workflows and decision-making processes in creating historically informed 3D models.
